Today is Gene’s birthday so it seemed like a perfect time to update everyone on the status of the project.

We had to take a break as the pandemic made it very difficult (and expensive) to progress. Now that things are starting to slowly ease up we are getting back to work.

The downtime wasn’t completely wasted, though. We outlined the film and drafted a script. Although it will undoubtedly change during the course, it gives us a starting point and a focus. We also were able to do some research and develop lists of what is needed for the project. It feels good to have these down in black and white so we can chart the progress.

I also had the opportunity to take a class on filmmaking and it was interesting. I had a good understanding beforehand but there was still plenty to learn. The course was productive and some of the lessons have already been put into practice. It was a good feeling, though, to see that we were going in the right direction with the work we had done so far. Part of me was scared we would have to start from scratch but that fear was unfounded.

Through it all, though I’ve been impressed with the support we have been receiving. We are continuing to receive stories, emails, and inspiration. Just yesterday we got an email from someone expressing what Dad’s encouragement meant to her and helped her to turn her life around. It brought both Sophia and me to tears. We love hearing these stories.

Now begins the fun begins. Things should start to happen and will make the effort to keep you updated on our accomplishments.
