Mark Your Calendars: July 13, 2025 – The First-Ever Friends of Gene Perret Comedy Show
When Gene Perret passed away, we knew the best way to honor his incredible legacy wasn’t with a somber tribute—he would’ve hated that—but with laughter. That’s how the Friends of Gene Perret Comedy Show was born.
This isn’t a memorial. It’s a celebration. A joyful afternoon of comedy in Gene’s spirit.
We’re thrilled to welcome the incredible talents of Tom Dreesen and Wendy Liebman, two comedians Gene deeply admired. The evening will be hosted by Dobie Maxwell, one of Gene’s students and a talented comic in his own right.
As Gene was always championing new voices, we held a nationwide contest for a rising comic to join the lineup. Congratulations to Andy Lester of Rhode Island, who will take the stage alongside our seasoned pros.
All profits from this event will go toward the making of The Comedy Writing Guru – a project Gene was proud of.
